Headmaster’s Newsletter – 5 February 2016

Dear parent,

I am delighted to announce that this week three of our pupils have been awarded Music Scholarships to their next schools:

  • Lucas Bachmann – Music Exhibition to Eton
  • Luca Skelton – Organ Scholarship to Uppingham
  • Kenza Stamselberg – Music Scholarship to Putney High

We congratulate them on their achievement and wish them the greatest success in years to come.

This weekend Max Hildreth will be representing England in Fencing (épée), at the Hungarian Olympic Grand Prix in Budapest. We wish him the best of luck.

Safer Internet Day 2016 takes place on the 9th of February, with the theme ‘Play your part for a better Internet.’ All Middle, Upper and Main School ICT lessons throughout next week will focus on activities related to online safety. This is an extremely important subject and I would strongly recommend you visit the two sites below for more information about online safety.

Over the last weeks we have had an increasing issue with children being brought to school before 8am and left unsupervised. As well as the safety issues this presents, all of our buildings are located in residential areas and it is important that we maintain good relationships with our neighbours. Please try to arrive between 8.00 and 8.20. Should you arrive a couple of minutes early please stay with your child until the doors open. At Cadogan Gardens we request that children do not stand on the steps but remain on the pavement until the doors open. Thank you for your cooperation.

There will be a secondhand uniform sale in Cadogan Gardens on Tuesday. Please see the attached flyer. Good quality donations can be made at any time by bringing them in a clearly marked bag to either Hans Place or Cadogan Gardens. We are particularly short of knickerbockers, brown coats and gold jumpers in larger sizes.

Next Friday, 12 February will be Mufti Day throughout the school. We will be collecting for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s “Bad Hair Day” campaign. There will be various events in the different buildings. As ever, the suggested minimum donation is £1.

I wish you all a good weekend.

Richard Townend
