Headmaster’s Newsletter – 24 November 2017

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday we were pleased to welcome back Professor Hans Georg Reinertz, Director of the Music Academy in Eupen, to enthuse and encourage our musicians.

During Assembly we performed a piece especially written for us by the Swedish composer and organist Hilding Carlsson. In the evening he gave out prizes at the end of the Soirée d’Or Showcase to all the performers.

Coding is becoming an increasingly important skill in the modern world. This week, two classes of Lower Senior School went to the Apple Store for a Coding Workshop where they were tasked with controlling and mapping out the path for a gyroscopic ball. It was a very successful event and the other three classes will be going in the coming week.

Over the last month you will no doubt have noticed that some members of staff have been having various degrees of success in growing moustaches in aid of Movember. The Movember Foundation supports charities related to men’s health and in particular prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. This coming Friday we will be having a ‘Wear a Mo Day’. Pupils at Main School will be given an opportunity to buy a stick on Moustache to wear at school for a donation of £1. Cadogan will also have donation boxes; however there will be no moustaches available. There is a dedicated link should you wish to donate in support of the tutors efforts.

Best wishes,

Richard Townend
