After only five weeks we find ourselves at Half Term. Due to where Easter falls this year it is a short term, which means that it is a very busy one. The girls at the top of the school and some of the boys have been sitting the exams for their seconday schools. Almost all of these results are now in and once again they are looking very strong. Several academic scholarships and some music scholarships have been awarded. I hope to be able to give you a full list after half term.
Lower School have been celebrating Chinese New Year this week. Thank you to Mrs Wu who visited L1 today and helped the children make Chinese Lanterns. As you can see all have entered into the spirit of the occasion.
Perhaps the big event of the first half of term was the inspection by Ofsted. We expect to receive their report any day now. We had hoped it might be with us by now but the wheels of government do not turn very quickly! Once we receive it we will share it with you.
We have now held most of the Parents’ Evenings. There remains the Lower School evening in Cadogan Gardens on the first evening back after Half Term followed by Lower Transitus and Middle School.
The music showcases get underway in earnest in the second half of term. Do come to support these events. The ability to perform in public is such an important skill to develop and to be able to do this in front of a supportive audience in the first instance makes an enormous difference. The confidence it develops carries through into so many areas of life and is of great benefit when it comes to meeting new people and in interviews. The next showcases are as follows:
- Tuesday 20 February – Guitar (Mr Robinson’s pupils)
- Wednesday 21 February – Bassoon, Oboe and Violin
- Thursday 22 February – Guitar (Mr White’s pupils)
Thank you for your generosity for today’s Mufti Day appeal for Winston’s Wish. At the time of writing I do not have a total for you but I can report that the cake sale in Hans Place sold out!
I wish you a wonderful Half Term,
