This week we held our annual Remembrance Assembly in the Scottish Church. We were delighted that two Chelsea Pensioners were able to join us for this special commemoration. As well as taking part in the procession they also spent some time talking to the boys and girls in Lower School and Middle School. They were most impressed by the poppies that Middle School had made. After Assembly they were invited back to Hans Place for a short tour of the building where they met some of the older children and answered their questions. On leaving they were keen to say how much they had enjoyed their morning with us and how impressed they were by the ceremony and music at Assembly. We very much hope that they will be able to come to some more events during the year.
A particular thank you to Mr SC for preparing and arranging the music on Wednesday as well as for his address about the importance of Remembrance.
It has been another busy week in Founders’ Hall with events every evening. On Monday evening there was a presentation given by Roedean and Queen’s College on the options for girls at 13+ entrance. This is something that we are very keen to develop as there are now more schools offering a 13+ entry for girls and many of the traditional boys boarding schools are going co-educational.
Tuesday evening saw the Upper Transitus and Lower Sixth Orations Final. The boys and girls had been working on “Skills of an Actor” in their Drama lessons. Three pupils from each class were selected to perform a monologue of their choice on Tuesday evening. Actor, Producer and BAFTA winner Hester Ruoff had kindly agreed to be our guest adjudicator. She was extremely generous with her time and gave every participant helpful and meaningful feed back on their performance. Congratulations to all who took part and particularly to our prizewinners;
- Theodore Cripps
- Maya Iskefyeli
- Michalis Macropouls
- Mary Martin
- Adam Seydo
- Elina Vilar-Hadjipanayiotou
A final reminder for the few outstanding consent forms for the Seasonal Nasal Flu Vaccination that need to be returned. The NHS Immunisation Team need a form for each and every child confirming either yes or no. This is only for children in Small School, Lower School, MiddleSchool, Upper School, Lower Senior School and Lower Transitus. The completed form should be given to your Senior Tutor. A blank form is attached to this letter. Thank you.
Finally, good luck to our runners who will be representing the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea in the London Youth Games Cross-Country tomorrow.
