Headmaster’s Newsletter – 31 January 2020

Dear Parents,

Attached to this newsletter is an important letter outlining some changes we are making in Hans Place from September 2020.

This week, a former pupil returned to Hill House to talk to the childrenin Upper Transitus, Upper Senior School and the Sixth Form, about a website she is developing as part of her Ph.D in Psychology. Her aim is to help children learn about areas of mental health such as anxiety and exam stress. We hope that her research and this website will support the children’s work in this important area.

Last week our chamber orchestra took part in the inaugural Prep School Orchestra Playdayat Kingswood House School in Epsom. The day involved sectional rehearsals for the different parts of the orchestra, a full rehearsal and finally a concert. The children all seem to have had a super time. Thank you to Miss Cameron and Miss Correa for all their work to make the day such a success.

If you follow our Instagram account @hillhouseschoolchelsea you will have seen pictures of Upper Kappa and Delta on their trip to the British Museum earlier this week. They were studying Ancient Egypt and its artefacts.

On Monday the first of four groups visited the new Picasso and Paper exhibition at the Royal Academy where they were taken on a guided tour of the exhibition. The next group go on Monday.

There has inevitably been some concern and questions asked about the ongoing situation surrounding Coronavirus. I would like to reassure all parents that the school is receiving daily updates from the Department of Health and Social Care. Should an update require us to significantly change or alter any of our policies you will be informed immediately. We have not been required to change anything so far.
