Transitus (ages 9 – 10)
Senior School (ages 10 – 11)
From the Upper School boys and girls proceed to Transitus. Here begins the preparation for the Common Entrance examinations, Pre-Tests and interviews to the secondary Public School of their choice. They are taught by specialist tutors of great experience who will transmit their enthusiasm for their subject to their pupils in small classes based upon aptitude and ability. It is our aim in this period to teach the boys and girls to organise their work, study efficiently and to prepare purposefully for their lessons by doing supervised prep at school. The longer day from Monday to Thursday gives us the opportunity to provide daily games periods and time for artistic and musical study so that the curriculum can be kept as broad as possible. The timetable is flexible so that those with particular gifts in art, music or sport can have the necessary time to devote to those pursuits which particularly appeal to them. In addition to the daily games sessions one full afternoon a week is devoted to sport including fixtures with other schools.
Lower Sixth (age 12) and Upper Sixth (age 13)
Sixth Form prepares boys and those girls who will be sitting scholarship or Common Entrance for 13+ entry to day and boarding schools both in the UK and abroad.
The two years spent in the Sixth form build on the foundations for structured study laid in Transitus and Senior School. All pupils are now preparing for the first great academic test of their lives — the interviews and examinations of the Common Entrance to Public Schools. Our ambition is to give every pupil the confidence and knowledge to pass this hurdle successfully and realise their own ambitions for their future. It is our joy to see these young people leave us as individuals proud of their achievements, confident in character and secure on their future path.
